01Who we are
Beyond Zero Injuries ("BZI", "we", "us") is the safety leadership practice of Bill Sims Jr. and the Bill Sims Company. This policy covers beyondzeroinjuries.com and the ways you can reach us through it. It applies alongside our Cookie Policy and Terms of Use.
02Information we collect
Information you give us. When you complete a contact, keynote, or SEAL Academy form, email us, call us, or order a book, you share details such as your name, job title, organization, email address, phone number, country, and whatever you write in your message.
Questions you ask the site assistant. The chat assistant receives the messages you type so it can answer them. Please do not enter sensitive personal information, health details, or confidential company data.
Case study access. Our case studies are confidential and licensed to the requester's company. Before one opens, you give your name, company, and email and agree to the confidentiality terms. We record that agreement, and each case study page and PDF you open, with the date, time, and IP address, so we can show who accessed licensed material and when.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic request data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of the request. We use it for security, troubleshooting, and preventing abuse.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information, and we do not buy personal information from data brokers.
03How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry, quote or schedule a keynote, workshop, SEAL Academy program, or app demo.
- To fulfill book orders and provide the services you request.
- To send you updates and marketing by email or text message when you have opted in, as described below.
- To keep a record of who accessed our confidential case studies and when, and to enforce the license they are provided under.
- To operate, secure, and improve the site, including limiting abuse of the chat assistant.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent (marketing, optional cookies), the steps needed to enter into or perform a contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and protecting our business, and compliance with legal obligations.
04Email and text message marketing
When you submit one of our forms you may opt in to receive marketing by email and SMS. Consent to marketing is not a condition of buying anything from us.
- Email: every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we will remove you.
- SMS: message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- We do not share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.
05The AI site assistant
The chat assistant is powered by Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. Your messages, and the recent conversation needed for context, are sent to Anthropic as our service provider so it can generate a reply. We do not use your chat to build an advertising profile.
The conversation is kept in your browser's session storage so it can follow you between pages, and it is cleared when you close the browser. You can clear it sooner with the start over button in the assistant. Answers are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, so please confirm anything important with us directly.
08How long we keep information
We keep inquiry and client records for as long as we have an ongoing relationship with you and for a reasonable period afterward, then delete or anonymize them. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Order and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires. Hosting logs are kept for a short period for security.
09Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do neither.
- Not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email bill.sims@billsims.net. We will verify your identity using details we already hold and respond within the time the law allows, usually 30 to 45 days. If you live in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. California and other US state residents may use an authorized agent and may appeal a decision by replying to our response.
10International visitors
We are based in the United States and process information there. If you contact us from another country, your information will be transferred to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
11Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections to this site and limited access to client records. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12Children
This site is written for working professionals. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13Links to other sites
We link to third-party sites such as LinkedIn, YouTube, podcast hosts, Google reviews, and our online store. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.
14Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date at the top of the page. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly on the site.
